Our CEO Marques Torbert has received IAIABC’s NextGen Award. IAIABC, which stands for the International Association of Industrial Accident Boards, honors talented individuals who are under the age of 40 and who are making their mark on workers’ compensation.
Marques was recognized for his “do the right thing” approach and compassion for injured workers. Marques identified a serious problem in the industry – a lack of Medicare Set-Aside (MSA) management and support for injured workers after they settle their workers’ compensation claims – and established Ametros to provide that support. Harnessing technology to reduce the cost of professional management of MSAs and provide services that offer medical cost savings, pharmacy discounts, healthcare management, and pricing transparency helps injured workers navigate the healthcare system and spend their MSA dollars wisely so they can enjoy their lives.
Patient-advocacy drives Marques and the company. Speaking frequently at industry conferences, including a session at the 2019 National Workers’ Compensation & Disability Conference coming up in November, Marques focuses on empathy and kindness, often highlighting the fact that it’s the little things that make the biggest difference.

Marques is one of eight recipients of this year’s award and will participate in a special session, “A conversation with the NextGen” at the IAIAC 105th Convention on October 23. IAIABC launched the NextGen Award program in 2017 as a way to honor professionals who are making a difference in their organizations and leading the industry into the future.
