Porter Leslie to Explain Post-Settlement Care for Injured Workers at CLM Workers’ Comp Conf.

Wilmington, Mass. (May 14, 2018)Severely injured workers who settle their workers’ compensation claims have more options now than ever before. Advancements in administration services over the last few years have facilitated post-settlement healthcare advocacy that ensures injured workers receive high-level support for their ongoing medical care; these services are now frequently offered in addition to guidance in handling financial concerns. Parties involved in settling cases need to have a clear understanding of the injured person’s medical needs and how to address them to find the best possible solution.

“Each injured worker is unique in terms of their medical challenges as well as their financial situations,” said Porter Leslie, president of Ametros. “Having the right parties at the settlement table can truly be a win-win for everyone involved, and especially the injured worker.”

Porter will discuss post-settlement options, emphasizing the role of professional administrators during a session at the CLM & Business Insurance Workers’ Compensation Conference in Chicago later this month. Joining him will be Melanie Schafer, a partner at Gordon & Reese, David Hickey, managing partner with Brant Hickey & Associates, Inc. and Geoffrey Jones, a senior claims attorney at Midwest Employers Casualty.

In addition to discussing the opportunities and pitfalls associated with settling workers’ compensation claims, the panel will explore the future of post-settlement opportunities. The session, From Lump Sum to Surrogate Mom: Round The Clock Medical And Financial Security For The Injured Worker, takes place Wednesday, May 23, at 4:00 PM.

The CLM & business Insurance Workers’ Compensation Conference will be held at the Westin Chicago River North from May 22 – 24.
