The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) issued a notice on September 13, 2019, that starting on October 12, 2019 the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) Life Tables for 2016 will be utilized when calculating life expectancy in a Workers’ Compensation Medicare Set Aside (WCMSA). The notice reads as follows:

Beginning October 12, 2019, CMS will convert to the CDC’s “Table 1: Life Table for the total population: United States, 2016” for the Workers’ Compensation Medicare Set Aside life expectancy calculations. A link to the CDC’s 2016 Life Tables may be found in the Related Links section at the bottom of the Workers’ Compensation Medicare Set Aside Arrangements What’s New page on CMS.gov.

A link to the updated table can be found here. A comparison between the 2015 and 2016 tables appears to be negligible with respect to life expectancies.
